Legacy of Low Riders

Low rider cars are a star in their own right. There’s an entire community of car lovers who swear by the names of lowrider models. The history of such custom cars traces back to Mexican-Americans, especially the Chicano community, which has contributed to the making of the lowrider. These cars are an epitome of slow cruising and have a huge luxurious accessory list comprising of headlight eyebrows, visors, ice can window air coolers and tons of chrome, to mention a few.

Some legacy lowrider cars that have stood the test of time include Chevy Bomb and Chevy Stovebolt. They are traditionally slow and this can be attributed to the local Mexican courtship traditions being imbibed into the automobile segment. There’s been such tremendous loyalty towards low riders that they are immortalized in their anthem ‘Whittier Boulevard’ by the Thee Midnighters
