BMW 1 Series Coupe

The long bonnet, the muscular front and wide rear make the BMW 1 Series coupe look impressive. Both the BMW 135i and the 125i house twin turbo straight six-cylinder engines.

The twin turbo straight six cylinder engine in the BMW 135i is unique in its class. Two small turbochargers function in parallel to pump compressed air into the combustion chambers. The engine is capable of generating 306 HP and the car can achieve a 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 sec. The BMW 125i needs 6.4 sec to do a 0-100 km/h and has a top end of 245 km/h.

The BMW 120d and 123d are equipped with four-cylinder diesel engines. The BMW 123d happens to be the world’s first four-cylinder engine with variable twin turbo. Two different sized turbochargers are deployed sequentially and extra power is dispensed right across the rev range. The performance achieved is commendable, with the engine capable of generating 204 HP. The fuel economy is excellent too. Since the engine block is now made of aluminum, the weight is reduced by 20 kg. BMW cars have great handling and have always been sporty.
